NFL Player Charged For Allegedly Shoving Houston Paraplegic Woman

NFL's Michael Bennett was indicted by a grand jury in Houston for shoving a 66-year old woman to the ground after Superbowl LI

HOUSTON, TX — Philadephia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett was indicted by a Harris County grand jury on Friday on charges he injured a 66-year old paraplegic employee working at NRG stadium during Superbowl LI.

Bennett was one of thousands of spectators who came to Houston on On Feb 5, 2017 to see the New England Patriots play the Atlanta Falcon inthe Superbowl.

Immediately afer the game, Bennett allegedly shoved his way on to the field where players were gathering so he could celebrate with his brother, a Patriots player.

Bennett was stopped by NRG security personnel, including the 66-year-old disabled victim, and told he had to use a different entrance for field access.

Instead, Bennett allegedly pushed through the security detail, including the elderly woman who was part of the security team.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg didn't provide details to the extent of the woman's injury.

Regardless, the charge of injury to the elderly, includes intentionally and knowingly, causing bodily injury to a person 65 years or older, and carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.

The Harris County DA has issued a warrant for Bennett’s arrest, and are working with Bennett’s legal counsel regarding his surrender to authoriries in Houston.

Bennett, who played for the Seattle Seahawks last season, was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason.
