Hurricane Harvey: Key Contact Numbers And Road Closures

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston area remains under a flash flood watch as waters are rising downstream from Tuesday’s heavy rain in Beaumont-Port Arthur, 80 miles east of the Houston area.

Those affected counties include: Harris, Liberty, Jefferson, Jasper, Montgomery, Fort Bend, Waller, Brazoria, San Jacinto, Grimes, Houston, Washington, Chambers, Newton, Orange, Sabine, Colorado, Matagorda and Wharton counties. Residents in Harris County who need assistance can call the following numbers for help:

• Call 211: For medical or functional emergencies
• Call 911: For life-or-death emergencies
• Call (281) 238-3430 if you need rescue
• Call 311: For emergency shelter information in Houston.

The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting urban water rescues in flood-ravaged areas, and the Texas National Guard, which was activated Monday and arrived in the Houston area on Tuesday, is there to assist with evacuations. If you need rescue by the Coast Guard, call:
