Harris County, and other surrounding counties have been under a Flash Flood Warning since late Friday, and a Tornado Warning since Saturday morning.
The severe weather was spawned as Hurricane Harvey, a Category 4 storm, made landfall at Rockport, about 187 miles southwest of Houston.
Tornadoes roared through Richmond and in Missouri City overnight, damaging more than 50 homes in the area, an uprooting trees.
The rain has been intermittent through much of Saturday, with evacuations of residents in Fort Bend County who live near the Brazos River and San Bernard River.
The Houston area remains under a Tornado Warning until 5:45 p.m.
