We're dedicated to making our content as relevant to our readers as possible, but it takes more than breaking news, weather and sports to be all things to the community as diverse as Houston.

Why do we make you apply? We want to make sure your great, local content isn’t overwhelmed by non-local content — or worse, spam. So we ask users to apply to make sure you're real, and real local.
You'll receive an email confirming your account.

Once you're logged in, posting events in your areas is a snap. Here's how:

First, choose article or event:

Choose your Patch. In Houston, there are 12 to choose from. Share local news, announcements, opinions, lost pet notices on the bulletin board. Selling locally? Post those items in deals & classifieds. This example shows our Milford, Connecticut, Patch, but just start typing your Patch name in until you see it in the autofill:

Then, you add a description — this is what you people will see when you share it on Facebook:

Next, you drop in a good photo, preferably one that's uniquely yours:

Share a few importnt details about your event:

Finally, click "post" and check it out on Patch!
