Carver Theatre Students Selected for Professional Production of 'Cinderfella' (aldineisd.org) — Twelve Carver High School theatre students from the Houston area will join the professional cast of the hip-hop musical "Cinderfella," performing on the Miller Outdoor Theatre stage in Hermann Park. Produced by Houston's historic Ensemble Theatre, the shows on October 13 and 14 at 11 a.m. invite local residents to cheer on these young artists and experience a fresh spin on Cinderella.
   

2. Why researchers say Houstonians should literally touch grass more (lmtonline.com) — New research from Rice University and the Kinder Institute finds Houston-area residents visit parks and greenspaces less than people in other big cities, even though each extra visit here is strongly linked with better mental health. The study highlights big gaps in park access for low-income and nonwhite Houston neighborhoods, and shows most Harris County residents want more nearby greenspace and would pay modestly higher fees to improve it.
   

3. One person killed after 911 caller chases robbery suspect in north Houston (fox26houston.com) — A person is dead after a 911 caller who'd just been robbed at gunpoint reportedly chased the suspect by car in north Houston and was later found shot on John Alber Road near Bauman. Harris County Sheriff's deputies are still determining whether the caller or suspect was killed and are asking anyone with information to contact the sheriff's office.
   

4. Federally indicted Houston immigration attorney previously sued by clients in Harris County for malpractice and fraud (click2houston.com) — A suspended Houston immigration attorney is now federally indicted, accused of defrauding more than 100 immigration clients after a Harris County civil case already found she fabricated government documents and failed to file applications. Local investigators believe there may be additional Houston-area victims and are urging anyone affected to contact the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable's Office.
   

5. Remembering Radar: 10 years since we said goodbye to KPRC 2's beloved weather dog (click2houston.com) — Many longtime Houston viewers are remembering Radar, the KPRC 2 "weather dog" adopted from the Houston Humane Society who charmed audiences in the 2000s and died ten years ago today. His on-air fame helped spotlight local pet adoption and responsible ownership, inspired fundraisers for the Humane Society, and turned one shelter pup into a small but beloved piece of Houston nostalgia.
