Police: Woman May Have Stolen Baby And Killed Mother

Chief Art Acevedo said a woman may have killed Carolina Flores, and may try and pass shamali Flores off as her own daughter.

HOUSTON, TX — Houston Police Investigators now believe the brutal murder of a young mother in her Greenspoint apartment on Tuesday may have been committed by another woman who wanted her baby.

Houston Police Art Acevedo held a press conference Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the apartment complex at 185 Goodson Drive, where Carolina Flores as stabbed to death and her 6-week old daughter Shamali Flores was kidnapped.

“The individual who abducted Shamali is likely familiar with Carolina Flores’ family, and her neighborhood,” Acevedo said.

Four hours later, police issued an Amber Alert for Shamali Flores and her father, Marcos Mariano Tomas Palacios, 34, along with a description of his car.

Palacios was found in San Antonio, and denied having anything to do with Flores’ murder or the abduction of his daughter, and has since been cleared.

Meanwhile, Acevedo said the person who has Shamali Flores may be a woman who will try and pass the baby off as her own, and may indicate the child was recently born.

“Think about anyone who all the sudden has a child, that you weren’t aware were pregnant,” he said. “Also think about people who may have lost a child recently…, that may be someone we are interested in talking to. We want to bring this child back to the family.”
