Scorpion On A Plane: Houston Man Stung On United Airlines Flight To Calgary

Incident was the second on a United Airlines flight in less than a week.

A United Airlines passenger on a flight from Houston to Calgary, Canada, was stung by what was described as a scorpion.

The incident happened Sunday on a United Airlines flight, while a man and his wife were having dinner in the business class section of the aircraft.

Houstonian Richard Bell said he was eating lunch on his flight, when the scorpion fell from an overhead bin and landed on his head.

Bell’s wife, Linda, said her husband reached up to brush it off and it fell onto his table.

When he reached down to grab the insect by the tail, the scorpion stung him on his hand, partially hitting his fingernail, Bell said.

He swiped the insect into the aisle, which drew gasps from passengers, Linda told KPRC.

Scorpions are common in parts of Texas and have a venomous and painful sting that can cause health issues or be fatal to some who may have a reaction.

The scorpion encounter happened the same day that a man on a flight from Chicago was allegedly beaten and dragged from his flight.

Bell received medical attention when the aircraft landed.

The sting was not life threatening
