Xfinity Launches Same-Day WiFi in Houston, Bringing Internet Online Within Hours

Houston residents now have a faster way to get connected.

Comcast’s Xfinity has launched same-day WiFi service in Houston, allowing new customers to get internet service up and running within hours of signing up. The rollout gives customers the option to have an Xfinity Gateway delivered directly to their doorstep the same day or to pick up equipment at one of more than 30 Xfinity retail locations across Texas.

The new offering comes as Greater Houston continues to grow rapidly, adding more than 125,000 residents last year alone. For many new arrivals, reliable internet is a top priority when setting up a home. Xfinity’s same-day option is designed to meet that demand with speed and convenience.

“In a world where almost everything is instant, home Internet shouldn’t be an exception,” said Eric Jagher, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Connectivity at Comcast’s Xfinity. “With same-day WiFi, customers can get connected the moment they need it, whether they are moving into a new home or starting fresh.”

How It Works

New customers can sign up for Xfinity Internet online and select same-day Gateway delivery during checkout, if eligible. The device arrives within hours and can be set up in minutes using the Xfinity app. Customers can also opt for same-day in-store pickup.

The process is designed to be simple:

• Sign up online at Xfinity.com

• Receive or pick up the Gateway the same day

• Self-install and activate service quickly through the app

Even before equipment arrives, customers can access Xfinity’s nationwide network of more than 23 million secure WiFi hotspots.

Built for Connected Homes

The Xfinity Gateway is designed to support today’s connected households, delivering multi-gig speeds and the ability to power hundreds of devices at once. From streaming and remote work to smart home technology and gaming, the service aims to provide consistent, high-quality performance.

The Gateway also includes built-in cybersecurity protections that automatically block threats, along with parental controls that allow families to manage screen time and device access.

According to Opensignal’s May 2026 Fixed Broadband Experience Report, Xfinity Internet ranks among the most reliable in the country for consistent quality, download speeds and video performance.

Local Investment Continues

The Houston launch is part of Comcast’s broader investment in Texas infrastructure and customer experience. The company has recently expanded its retail footprint, including new store openings in Cypress, and continues to work with local leaders to extend high-speed internet access in areas like Fort Bend County.

These efforts aim to connect more residents to reliable broadband, particularly in previously underserved communities.

Same-day Gateway delivery is now available to most new Xfinity Internet customers in Houston, with plans to expand access across Texas by the end of 2026.
