Veteran Children’s Book Author Trio “Cleared for Storytime” at the 42nd CAF Wings Over Houston Airsh

Three women veterans and award-winning children’s book authors will join forces for their first-ever Aviation Author Trio appearance at the 42nd CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow, October 31–November 1, 2026.

Graciela Tiscareño-Sato (“Captain Mamá”), Sarah Doran, and Patricia Osborn will bring aviation, military service, STEM, history, and storytelling together for families in the airshow’s Family Chalet.

This year's event is significant as the CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow celebrates America's 250th birthday and welcomes the world-famous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as the featured demonstration team. Families from across Texas and beyond will experience thrilling aerial performances while discovering aviation careers, military service opportunities, & STEM education through the interactive exhibit in the Family Chalet.

WHO

Graciela is the daughter of Mexican immigrants who became an Air Force aviator. She's the first Latina aviator in the U.S. Air Force to receive an Air Medal for combat air operations. She's an award-winning author, entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and creator of the nationally-recognized Captain Mamá bilingual children's aviation book series. Award-winning author Sarah Doran brings military history to life through heartfelt children’s stories that honor, memorialize, and celebrate the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Each book includes military history, educational resources, and a STEM activity, making Sarah’s stories useful for families and classrooms throughout the year, including Veterans Day, Women’s History Month, Month of the Military Child, and Memorial Day.

Military & civilian pilot and children's author Patricia Osborn created Huey’s Books to share her love of aviation with the next generation.

Inspired by her own aviation experiences and originally created for her niece, Patricia’s stories introduce children to the many ways military aircraft and their crews serve communities both at home and abroad.

Her Huey’s Books series combines real-world aviation missions with approachable characters and adventure designed to inspire curiosity, courage, service, and a lifelong love of flight.
