Coast Guard Responds To Oil Spill In San Jacinto River

Spill resulted with landscapers working in a the area ruptured an old pipe in the area, causing the spill: Officials

KINGWOOD, TX — U.S. Coast Guard crews spent Wednesday cleaning an oil spill in the San Jacinto River after a pipe ruptured in the area of Aqua Vista and Timberline in Kingwood.

Crews said the ruptured pipe caused a spill that resulted in a 200-foot sheen on the water, according to KPRC.

A private company was called in to assist the Coast Guard with the clean up, KTRK reported.

The spill was contained by 2:30 p.m.
