Residents who are interested in becoming a candidate for a City Council position can pick up a candidate packet beginning Wednesday, Jan. 6. Please stop at the reception desk at City Hall, 825 W. Irving Blvd., and the City Secretary’s Office will bring down the packets. Packets also will be available on the city’s website at CityofIrving.org.

This year, at-large district council Place 8 and single-member district council Places 4 and 6 will be elected in the General Election. District Place 8 is an at-large position and candidates running for this position may reside anywhere within the Irving city limits. Places 4 and 6 are single-member districts; to qualify to run, candidates must be a resident of the city and have lived in their respective district for at least 12 months immediately prior to Election Day.

The filing period is Jan. 13 through Feb. 12. The City Secretary’s Office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early voting dates are April 19 through April 27 and Election Day is May 1. For more information, call the City Secretary’s Office at (972) 721-2493.
