Irving: Clear The Shelters Safe Adoption Process Explained

The annual Clear the Shelters event runs Aug. 25-29, and all adoption fees will be waived for pets. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, adopters will be able to meet and adopt a new family member.

New Pre-adoption Process

Although access to the Irving Animal Care Campus (IACC), 4140 Valley View Lane, is limited to keep people distanced, the staff have come up with a brilliant plan to help adopters meet and take home a new family member. Adopters are asked to up-to-date health guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, county and state agencies, and to follow social distancing and hand-washing guidelines.

1. View adoptable animals online at Irving Animal Services (IAS) or DFW Humane Society
2. Pick two animals to meet prior to visiting IACC.
3. Call either IAS or DFW Humane at the number listed on the door upon arriving at the IACC to be added to admission list.
4. Meet your selected animals. An IACC staff member will call to let you know to enter the facility.
