• City of Livingston looking into dam breach that left park pond empty (ketk.com) — Pedigo Park’s pond in Livingston drained suddenly Sunday after a dam breach sent water rushing into Long King Creek, leaving the pond nearly empty and wildlife exposed. Neighbors rushed in to rescue remaining fish, while city officials investigate what went wrong and how soon repairs can be made. 
• 2,700 East Texas students approved for school choice program (ketk.com) — Livingston families should know that 100 students from Livingston ISD have been approved for Texas’ new Education Freedom Account school choice program, which helps pay for private school or homeschooling. In all, 2,744 East Texas students were accepted so far, and families must confirm schooling plans or opt out by July 15 to keep their awards.
