Nate Sheets Announces Statewide “Texans Should Feed Texans” Bus Tour
MCKINNEY, TX — Nate Sheets, Republican nominee for Texas Agriculture Commissioner, today announced a statewide bus tour taking his campaign directly to rural farmers, ranchers and Texas families with a simple message: “Let’s Grow Food Better and Grow Better Food.”
The tour follows a campaign kickoff event in McKinney on September 20 that drew more than 450 attendees. The first week of the tour, beginning October 2, will include stops in Bonham, Paris, Mount Vernon, Cooper, Greenville, Wills Point, Tyler, Athens, Fairfield, Cameron, Bastrop, Giddings and Lockhart.
“We’re going old school — a good, old-fashioned whistle-stop tour across rural Texas,” Sheets said. “I want to hear directly from the farmers and ranchers who feed us and the families who are trying to put good food on the table. And I want to share our vision for not just the survival of Texas agriculture, but a future in which they are truly thriving!”
The tour will feature town halls, farm and ranch visits, and meetings with producers and families across the state, focused on strengthening Texas agriculture, cleaning up the food supply, improving school lunches, protecting Texas land and water, building stronger rural economies, and addressing the rise of data centers.
A central message of the tour will be Sheets’s commitment to a simple principle: Texans should feed Texans.
“Texas has enormous buying power, spending billions every year on food for our schools and other public institutions,” Sheets said. “Wherever possible, those dollars should buy Texas beef, dairy, fruits, vegetables and other whole foods from Texas farmers and ranchers. Keep Texas dollars in Texas, strengthen our producers and put better food on Texas tables.”
