• DA to review additional complaint, possible felony charges against Marion County judge (news-journal.com) — Marshall readers should know that Marion County District Attorney officials are reviewing a new complaint that could bring possible felony indecent assault charges against County Judge Leward LaFleur, stemming from a November party. The Marshall News Messenger obtained a letter showing Jefferson’s city attorney sent the case back to Marion County prosecutors after learning of additional alleged conduct, while LaFleur continues to deny all accusations.
   

• Drilling report: April 5-11, 2026 (news-journal.com) — Energy activity is staying busy just outside Marshall, with a Panola County well reported 13.6 miles southwest of town and multiple new gas and oil completions across nearby Harrison and Marion counties. The latest Texas Railroad Commission report details fresh permits, depths, and production rates that help shape jobs, tax revenue, and industry traffic around Marshall and its neighboring communities.
   

• Big Bass Splash Heads to Toledo Bend With $550K To Be Paid Out (kicks105.com) — Marshall angler Glen Stone just made history, landing the largest bass ever caught in the 42-year Big Bass Splash on Lake Sam Rayburn and winning a new truck, boat, and cash. Organizers now turn to the next Big Bass Splash at Toledo Bend in mid-May, with $550,000 in guaranteed prizes and hourly payouts for anglers across the region.
