Here are the top three stories in McKinney-Frisco today:

1. McKinney's own Tupps Brewery will be one of the featured vendors at the Texas Forever Fest at Haggard Park in historic Downtown Plano on Mar. 26. The event, hosted by HEB, is a Western-inspired party that celebrates the Lone Star State. Live country music, Southwestern food and drink, and activities for all ages promise a day of family fun. 2. Awards were presented and over $58,000 was raised for special needs athletes at the Allen Special Olympics Delegation's 23rd annual Special Angels Among Us Auction and Dinner. 250 supported the Feb. 12 event. Downtown McKinney Square's own Hugs Café received the Champion for Change Award. The restaurant provides career training and pathways for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities; over 80% of Hugs' staff identifies as having a disability. (Star Local Media)
3. Alex Anamekwe was named Star Local Media Athlete of the Week after receiving 41% of the online reader vote. Anamekwe played a key role in the McKinney boys basketball team qualification for the UIL state tournament, the first since 1928. His last-second performance in the Mar. 1 game gave his team the win over top-ranked Richardson with a 54-52 victory. (Star Local Media)
