• Person seriously injured in Merkel house fire (ktxs.com) — A serious house fire on North 13th Street in Merkel sent one resident to a local hospital with severe injuries and left the home heavily damaged by smoke. Merkel, Tye, Trent, and Potosi firefighters quickly contained the blaze to the kitchen, while Taylor County authorities continue investigating what caused the Saturday afternoon fire.
