• A parent allegedly showed up armed at a Texas middle school, triggering a lockdown before police took them into custody (newsbreak.com) — Berry Middle School in Mesquite went into lockdown after a parent allegedly arrived at the secured entrance with a handgun, but police say the weapon was never displayed and no one was hurt. Mesquite ISD and police emphasize that safety procedures worked as intended, with officers quickly taking the parent into custody and keeping students and staff behind secure doors while the situation was investigated.

The donation, part of the NABC Recycled Rides program with GEICO, replaces his long transit and scooter commute and highlights how Mesquite's collision center partners with national charities to support veterans locally and across North Texas.
