• ‘The Chosen' begins casting extras for season 7 filming in North Texas (dallasnews.com) — Filming for season 7 of “The Chosen” is bringing paid extra and baby casting opportunities to Midlothian from late April through late May, with specific dates on April 27–28. Texas-based Brock Allen Casting is seeking adults and 10–14 month-old babies with olive to deep skin tones for background roles on the Camp Hoblitzelle set. Interested locals can apply by emailing details and recent photos.
   

• Texas sues California companies for shipping illegal, high-potency kratom into state (fox4news.com) — State officials are again spotlighting Midlothian, where a previous lawsuit shut down sales of allegedly illegal high‑potency kratom at Smokey’s Paradise. Now, Texas is suing two California companies accused of shipping similarly potent or synthetic kratom products into the state, as part of a broader enforcement push under the Texas Kratom Consumer Health and Safety Protection Act.
