Fugitive At Large Is Facing Murder Charge: Police

Jonathon Green, 21, is wanted for a shooting last year in west Houston, says Crime Stoppers.

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Police Department and Crime Stoppers asked the public for tips Monday in tracking down a homicide suspect who cut off the GPS monitor around his ankle and vanished. Jonathon Green, 21, was arrested last year and charged with the murder of Jehlan Vaughn, according to KPRC-TV Channel 2.

Houston police arrested Green on May 6, 2016, shortly after the shooting of Vaughn, who was 20 at the time, the police said. The shooting occurred at a residence in west Houston.

Green posted a $50,000 bond, and then cut off his ankle monitor in July or August, a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney's Office said Monday at a news conference. He has not been seen since then, say police and prosecutors.

Green had appeared in court three times in the case before he vanished, the Harris County prosecutor said. A police detective said that Green's mother lives in the area, but he likely fled from Texas, according to Channel 2.

Houston police and Crime Stoppers are offering up to a $5,000 reward for information on Green's whereabouts, Channel 2 reported. Anyone with information is asked to contact HPD or Crime Stoppers. All tips will remain anonymous.
