150-Pound Pig, Alcohol Stolen From North Austin Restaurant

Unique heist occurred after the owners of North Loop restaurant Foreign & Domestic had left for the night earlier this week.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Business thefts are an all-too-common scourge. But when the larceny involves the theft of a pig weighing 150 pounds and half the alcohol inventory at a local restaurant, the crime takes on a different layer of uniqueness altogether.

Some 30 minutes after the owners of North Loop restaurant Foreign & Domestic, 306 E. 53rd St., left for the night this past Sunday at around 3 a.m., a truck pulled up to the alley behind the eatery, KXAN reported. The motion of the truck triggered a surveillance camera that started to record the incident.

According to the account, a man emerging from the vehicle proceeded to steal a 150-pound pig used for charcuterie, half of the alcohol inventory, three gallons of milk and uncured bacon. Video posted to the restaurant's Instagram account shows the caper in slow motion.
