$400M-Plus In Mulled Pflugerville Projects Detailed

City officials preview an ambitious array of projects ranging from road work to wastewater-related initiatives.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Pflugerville city officials unveiled more than $400 million worth of planned capital improvement projects proposed for the next five years during a work session this week.

The CIPs were revealed at a work session on Tuesday. Memberw of the city's engineering and parks recreation department outlined the plans for myriad projects ranging from park projects to roadway improvements and wastewater-related enhancements.

The next step will be considering how to pay for the improvements, including potentially issuing general obligation bonds to be decided by voters in a November referendum. According to the discussion (which can be viewed here) five project related to transportation projects remain funded via $34.9 million coffers remaining from a 2014 general obligation bonds proceeds.

Four of the road projects are currently under construction while a fifth (widening of Pfennig Lane) is scheduled for a summer groundbreaking.

Among the CIPs are 20 roadway projects collectively valued at more than $66 million. Another $123.1 million is being allotted for proposed water and wastewater facility and infrastructure work; $57.65 million for expanding existing waste water plants; and $13.2 million building a new treatment facility.
More discussion on these matters is expected at the May 22 regular city council meeting.
