Arrest Made In Fatal North Austin Shooting

AUSTIN, TX — An arrest has been made in a shooting death that occurred in late June, police said on Friday.
The incident dates to Friday, June 8, when police responded to a call of a shooting in a parking lot along the 11800 block of North Lamar Boulevard just before 2 a.m. The shooting victim, Joseph Anthony Aguilar Campos, 32, was found unresponsive inside a vehicle that had crashed into a tree, according to a police advisory. Medics administered life-saving measures, but Campos was pronounced dead at 2:18 a.m.
An investigation revealed the killing was the culmination of a robbery attempt among people who knew each other, with witnesses describing seeing two Hispanic men and and an equal number of women in a white sedan with a black hood along with another pair of Hispanic men in a dark-colored sedan. All of them fled the scene after the shooting, police said.
