Arrest Made In Overnight Pflugerville Shooting
Police late Wednesday were dispatched to Heatherwilde Boulevard where a man fired more than 50 shots from within his apartment.
PFLUGERVILLE, TX — An arrest has been made in connection to an overnight shooting at a Pflugerville apartment complex, police said Thursday.
In a press advisory, the Pflugerville Police Department said they arrested a man who fired multiple shots inside a unit at the Highlands Luxury Apartments, 1501 S. Heatherwilde Blvd., late Wednesday. A 31-year-old Hispanic male is in custody with criminal charges pending, police added.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 8, just after 11 p.m. when the police department received a shots-fired call at the apartment along Heatherwilde Boulevard, according to a press advisory. As police arrived, additional gunshots were fired by the suspect from within an apartment, according to the official account.

Law enforcement officials noted that no shots were fired by police despite the estimated 50-plus shots fired from within the apartment, with bullets traveling through the walls into several adjacent apartments and the exterior of the building, according to the advisory. Several firearms subsequently were located in the residence with both spent and live ammunition, police added.
Once officers were able to isolate the suspect, residents in the area were safely evacuated to a nearby building and interviewed by authorities, police said. Meanwhile, the suspect fell out of an apartment window where he then was apprehended before being transported to a local hospital, according to the police account. He's being treated for self-inflicted, non-life threatening injuries, officials added.

No other serious injuries have been reported, and police said they believe this was an isolated incident without further threat to the community.
Despite the resolution, several residents have not yet been allowed back in their homes as of Thursday afternoon. Police said "many" residents have been allowed to go back to their apartments to gather items to assist in their temporary relocation. The reason for the evacuation is to accommodate an ongoing police investigation as detectives process the crime scene. Residents will be allowed back into their apartments once the crime scene is canvassed, police said.
