Firm Brings Robot-Propelled 'Coffee Haus' To UT-Austin
Set to launch Jan. 16 at the University of Texas at Austin campus, futuristic place offers clients custom-ordered, app-driven coffee orders.

AUSTIN, TX — This is not your father's cup of coffee.
Austin-based Briggo — which describes itself as the leader in "Connected Coffee" — on Thursday disclosed plans to open a Coffee Haus location at the University of Texas at Austin campus next week. The site is at the popular Moojo dessert store at 2322 Guadalupe St.
There, the Coffee Haus is scheduled to open at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, as something of a welcome to coffee-loving students, faculty and the community at large.

So what is this Coffee Haus all about? And what makes it special? Briggo officials describe the place as housing a vehicle that "empowers people to create their perfect cups of coffee." Barista robots respond to orders that can be made through mobile apps to achieve a "Connected Coffee Experience" centered on whole-bean Latin American blends, fresh dairy and gourmet syrups.
It's a 21st century way of grabbing a cup of joe, ordering it from a robot barista activated to one's custom order. Banish those thoughts of coffee machines of yore, where a cup was spit out to receive a dribble of questionable caffeinated liquid. This is different: A gourmet-style, superior cut of java made with laser-like precision by a disembodied yet efficient barista robot.

The location of the new Coffee Haus complements the popular Moojo wares of warm, freshly baked cookies and gourmet, all-natural ice cream. The Briggo Coffee Haus inside Moojo will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with plans to extend hours 1:00 a.m. (midnight on Sundays) starting Feb. 5.
“We are thrilled to bring the Briggo experience back to campus and serve our locally-roasted specialty coffees," CEO Kevin Nater said. "Our fully-connected, on-demand coffee experience is a perfect match for the modern consumer lifestyles exemplified here in Austin. But to us, connection doesn’t just refer to technology, but also the integrity and origin of the product, our lifestyles, and of course, the relationships we keep."
Less than two weeks into the new year, Nater predicted a good year for Briggo with plans to expand locally, become a presence during SXSW in March and enter new markets in the coming months.
The company previously launched a prototype Coffee Haus at the Flawn Academic Center on The University of Texas (UT) campus, which officials said led to crucial insights regarding consumer behavior and opportunities for innovation. Armed with the findings, Briggo is now slated to return to the UT-Austin area with the latest generation of their new Coffee Haus experience, officials added.

"The beautifully modern design of their Coffee Haus combined with an intuitive mobile app delivers a personalized customer experience, every time," officials said of the coming reboot.
It's a little difficult to describe this futuristic coffee stop manned by robotic baristas. Here are a couple of videos shedding further light:
