Austin Citizen Police Academy Graduates 94th & 95th Classes

Academy is a 14-week program designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Austin Police Department.

AUSTIN, TX — The 94th and 95th Citizen Police Academy classes will graduate during a ceremony Thursday evening, officials said.

The event at Promise Land Church, 1504 E. 51 St., will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Pictures will begin at 6 p.m. and the graduation ceremony will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Citizen Police Academy is a 14-week program designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Austin Police Department. Each session consists of weekly classes that meet at Austin Police Headquarters. The instruction is comprehensive, and different units within the department are covered each week.

The slogan of the Citizen Police Academy is, “Understanding through Education,” with a goal is to educate the public about the Austin Police Department and to increase the rapport between citizens and police officers

"We hope the graduates of the Citizen Police Academy have become more aware and better informed about how the Police Department operates, and will encourage friends, coworkers and families to join the Austin Police Department in this rewarding program," police said in a press advisory.
