Austin National Night Out Observance Scheduled
Free event featuring games, entertainment and music is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 29 is meant as a united front against crime.

NORTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police on Tuesday released details related to the upcoming 35th National Night Out to be staged as a neighborhood united front against crime.
The free event will feature games, entertainment and music. Food will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting Austin Police Community Liaison Corporation, a 501(c)3 non-profit.

The kickoff precedes this year’s National Night Out, which falls on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., officials noted. Neighborhoods throughout Austin will join thousands of communities nationwide to participate in National Night Out, which is designed to accomplish a number of goals, including:
- Generate support and participation in crime prevention efforts.
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relations.
- Let criminals know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
