Austin, Pflugervile Crews Extinguish 20-Acre Brush Fire
With parched earth creating tinderbox-like fields amid extreme temperatures, blaze broke out East Howard Lane and Gregg Lane.
AUSTIN, TX — Austin Fire Department crews assisted their counterparts in Pflugerville Tuesday afternoon in fighting a 20-acre brush fire.
The big blaze in the area of East Howard Lane and Gregg Lane was contained, and crews were involved in the cleaning-out process about a half-hour after the fire was first reported shortly before 4 p.m. No injuries were reported. The fire was ignited along a highway median near Parmer Lane, according to local reports.
Temperatures were just short of 100 degrees in Central Texas on Tuesday, yielding veritable tinderboxes of dry pastures throughout the region. Aberrant windy conditions likely contributed in fanning the flames.
