Austin Police ID Suspect, Victim Of Fatal Domestic Disturbance

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday released details related to a fatal stabbing in North Austin over the weekend that claimed the life of a woman during a domestic disturbance.

Police were called to an apartment complex at 5007 Lynnwood St. on Friday, Dec. 15, at around 6:38 p.m. after receiving an emergency calls about a woman being stabbed. The first officer on the scene confronted the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Aubrey Quentin Garrett, and ordered him to the ground.

Garrett failed to comply with the officer's commands, and continued attacking the woman, who police have identified as Andrea Faye Lindsey. 43. The officer was forced to fire his weapon, striking Garrett who was then taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Once Garrett had been detained, medics tended to both the suspect and victim in treating their injuries, according to police. Lindsey succumbed to her wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:09 a.m. The Travis County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Lindsey on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, and determined her death had been caused by sharp, forced injuries. The case, ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner, is being investigated by the APD Homicide Unit.
