Austin Police ID Woman Struck, Killed By Car

Laura Wray, 58, was hit by truck while walking along the 6900 block of North Interstate 35 just past 1 a.m. and died at the scene.

NORTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police on Tuesday identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a truck the past weekend.

The incident occurred on Jan. 26 just past 1 a.m. along the 6900 block of North Interstate 35 southbound, where a black 2014 Ford F-150 struck Laura Wray, 58, who was traveling eastbound on foot. She was pronounced dead at the scene by 1:48 a.m.

Police are still investigating the case, and did not indicate in a press release whether any charges were filed against the driver. Officials urge anyone with information to contact them at (512) 974-3761. Those with information also can submit tips by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.

The incident marked Austin’s fourth fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in four fatalities this year, police said. At this time in 2018, there were three fatal traffic crashes and four traffic fatalities, officials added.
