Austin Police To Launch Benefit For Fallen, Injured Officers

17th Annual McDonald's Bells and Whistles Good Friday Fundraiser benefits 100 Club locations throughout the region.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Police Department and others on Thursday will announce the launch of a fundraiser benefiting families of first responders killed or critically injured in the line of duty.

APD officials will be joined by those at McDonald's at 100 Club of Central Texas members in announcing the 17th Annual McDonald's Bells and Whistles Good Friday Fundraiser. The initiative benefits 100 Clubs outlets throughout South Central Texas.

APD Assistant Chiefs Justin Newsom and Frank Dixon are scheduled to attend the kick-off event at McDonald's. The eatery partners with local police, offering their sites as staging areas for regular "Coffee With A Cop" events during which officers meet with residents to secure their feedback and/or air concerns.

Established in 2001, the event in appreciation of the 100 Club’s mission assists families of first responders killed and critically injured in the line of duty.
