Austin Police Poised To Stage Conference Educating Public On Law Enforcement Interaction
Planned Aug. 2-5, second annual gathering covers a variety of subjects, from crisis intervention to fair and impartial policing.

AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Police Department is hosting a conference this week intended to educate the community on interacting with law enforcement, officials said.
Called the I.C.A.R.E. Community Conference, the event is scheduled from Aug. 2-5. Hosting with the APD will be the non-profit Austin Police Community Liaison Corp.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Among the topics to be discussed are mental health first aid; fair and impartial policing; safety and security establishments; crisis intervention; involvement with APD's outreach programs; and response to resistance training. A young women's symposium also is planned.
