Austin Police ID Man Killed In Car Wreck

A car crashed into a pole on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 12:20 p.m. along the 4899 block of North Interstate 35 southbound service road.

AUSTIN, TX — Police released details on a man who died after slamming into a utility pole this week.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 12:20 p.m. along the 4899 block of North Interstate 35 southbound service road. According to police, a 2006 blue Toyota Scion was traveling along the road when it slid into a wood utility pole. The driver was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

The driver was identified as 30-year-old Francisco Lugo.

The incident marked Austin’s 70th fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in 72 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, police added, there were 58 fatal traffic crashes and 59 traffic fatalities.
