Austin Police Respond To Barricaded Suspect Call
Residents were urged to avoid the area along 13800 U.S. 183 where they have set up perimeter in trying to coax suspect out.
AUSTIN, TX — Police responded to the scene of a possibly barricaded suspect in North Austin, officials said.
Via Twitter, police conveyed just after 11 p.m. they had set up a perimeter at a building along the 13800 block of North U.S. 183 as they attempted to coax the suspect out. Typically, police send out a SWAT team to aid in the extraction of a barricaded suspect. Given the considerable police presence at the site, police asked residents to avoid the area altogether until the situation is resolved.
It's unclear what prompted the person to become barricaded or whether the suspect is armed. By early Sunday, it also was unclear if evacuations at nearby dwellings had taken place as a result of the ongoing standoff.
