Austin Police Seek Driver Who Hit Child Before Fleeing The Scene

Forest North Elementary School student was walking home from school on Feb. 9 when he was hit and left injured without aid from motorist.

AUSTIN, TX — Police are seeking assistance from the public in a case involving a motorist's failure to stop and render aid after hitting a student walking home from school.

The incident occurred last Friday, Feb. 9, at around 3:30 p.m. when a Forest North Elementary School student was walking home from school, traveling northbound on the east side of the 1300 block of Hymeadow Drive. A vehicle left the roadway, striking the child before fleeing without offering aid to the young victim, police said.

The vehicle may be a red Chevrolet SUV with dark tinted windows, police said, but the victim was uncertain about specific details. The child sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
