Austin Police Seek Help Finding Hit-And-Run Driver Who Left Elderly Woman Dead
Police say Fernando Lazcano Sarabia, 27, was driving fast on Parkfield Drive when he struck Linda Kay Fletcher, 77, last week.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating a suspect wanted for failure to stop and render aid in a recent car collision involving a pedestrian.
The incident dates to Oct. 10 just before 4:30 p.m. when Linda Kay Fletcher, 77, was killed after being hit by a gold Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Fernando Lazcano Sarabia along the 9300 block of Parkfield Drive. The elderly woman was struck after exiting her vehicle, police said.
A preliminary police investigation shows the Tahoe was travelling eastbound on Parkfield Drive at a high rate of speed when Sarabia lost control, hitting and killing Fletcher, according to police. The driver fled southbound on Parkfield Drive, police added.

In their press advisory, police didn't disclose how they know Lazcano was at the wheel. Police provided no physical description of the suspect, only saying he is a 27-year-old man. His vehicle is described as a gold 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe with Texas license plate number GSX3645 and right front collision damage.

Police noted the incident marked Austin’s 50th fatal traffic crash and the 52nd fatality of 2017. At this time in 2016, there were 53 fatal traffic crashes and 54 traffic fatalities, police said.
