Police Seek Pair Who Took $86K Worth Of Jewelry From North Austin Store [UPDATED]

A man and a woman walk into a jewelry store, ask to see a two-ring set and then run away with the merchandise still on the finger.

UPDATE: Police on Monday released more still images from a surveillance camera in the hopes someone might recognize the suspects in a jewelry theft on Sunday and alert police. The pair pictured is accused of asking a clerk to see a two-ring set at a jewelry store at The Domain shopping center and then running off with the jewelry. NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Saturday released surveillance photos and descriptions of a pair of suspected thieves accused of taking $86,000 worth of jewelry from a store.

By releasing still images from a store surveillance camera, the hope is someone might recognize the suspects and alert police as to their whereabouts.

The incident occurred on Dec. 12, when police responded to Spence Diamonds at The Domain shopping center along the 11400 block of Century Oaks Terrace for a robbery alarm. After arriving, police learned a man a woman had entered the store and asked to see a two-ring set. But after the clerk placed the rings on the female suspect's finger, both suspects ran out of the building, police said.

The male suspect is described as a black male in his mid-30s standing at about 6' 2" in height, heavyset in build with a clean shaven buzz haircut. The female suspect is described as a black woman also in her mid-30s standing 5' 2" in height. She is said to be of petite build with dark brown hair with highlights and a tattoo on her left forearm.
