Bank Robbed In Northwest Austin

Police responded to the Woodforest National Bank branch inside a Walmart store located at 13201 RM 620 on Thursday afternoon.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police responded to a bank robbery in the northwest part of the city on Thursday afternoon during which a man handed the teller a note saying he was armed, officials said.

The incident occurred just before 1:15 p.m. at the Woodforest National Bank branch inside a Walmart store located at 13201 RM 620, a police officer told reporters. Described as a Hispanic man between 20-30 years of age, the suspect later fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, the officer said.

The suspect was wearing a surgical-type mask, and wore a black baseball cap turned backwards, a long-sleeve gray t-shirt and dark pants with brown work boots.

Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at (512) 974-5092 or the tip line at (512) 472-TIPS. Police said the incident marked the fourth bank robbery of the year in Austin, but it's unclear if the incident is connected to other recent bank heists.
