Ex-UTSA Player Charged With Sister's Murder In Pflugerville
Michael Egwuagu, 25, is charged with the fatal stabbing of his sister, Chioma Ebichi, 32, who was in the first trimester of pregnancy.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — A former University of Texas at San Antonio football player and NFL free agent is accused of fatally stabbing his sister Friday evening just outside Pflugerville, law enforcement officials said.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office reported via Twitter just before 7 p.m. that deputies were investigating the incident along the 1600 block of Vescovo Lane just east of Lake Pflugerville. Deputies responded to the scene just before 5 p.m., the sheriff office spokesperson, Kristen Dark, told Patch in an emailed response to questions.
Michael Egwuagu, 25, has since been arrested and charged with murder, Dark told Patch. By Sunday, sheriff's officials identified the victim as Chioma Ebichi, 32, of Pflugerville. The same day, police confirmed Ebichi was expecting a baby at the time of the death, and was in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Law enforcement officials had waited for the results of a Saturday autopsy before officially confirming the woman was pregnant at the time of her death. Dark confirmed the findings on Sunday.
The victim was found on the kitchen floor of the home with multiple stab wounds, police said.“Efforts were made to save her life, and the life of the reported unborn child. Ultimately, those efforts were unsuccessful and she did pass away," Dark told reporters during a press conference in the immediate aftermath of the case.

Egwuagu was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with murder, sheriff's officials said. He is currently incarcerated at the Travis County Jail with a bond set at $500,000, officials added.
Police have yet to specify what sort of implement Egwuagu is accused of using in stabbing his sister. It's also unclear what may have led up to the shooting. “We do have some neighbors who witnessed some activity," Dark said. "We have other family members we are talking to."
According to his UTSA profile, Egwuagu played for the UTSA Roadrunners from 2013 to 2016. After graduation, he was signed to the Chicago Bears roster as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He graduated from the university with a degree in multidisciplinary studies in August 2017.
