California-Based Developer Buys North Austin Shopping Center
New tenants include a full-service Asian grocery store and a sushi bar that lets customers pick out their selections from iPads at tables.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- Rejoice sushi lovers: The new owners of the Highland Village shopping center has signed new tenants that include a sushi bar and a full-service Asian grocery store, according to a published report.
California-based developer Misuma Holdings has, through its leasing manager CBRA, signed on 99 Ranch Market, a full-service Asian grocery store, and Kula Revolving Sushi Bar, as new tenants, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
Misuma Holdings specializes in revamping under-performing and/or distressed properties like Highland Village, the newspaper noted. A purchase price for the shopping center wasn't disclosed, but it's appraised at roughly $12 million.

In buying the 120,000-square-foot property located at 6929 Airport Boulevard, the new owners will rename it The Crescent. A major sprucing up of the property is planned.
Tenants already leasing space at the site include Dollar General, H&R Block, BB&T and HEB's local corporate offices.

The newspaper notes the 99 Market represents the chain's entry into the Austin market and the fifth Texas store overall. It is scheduled to open by early next year in areas once occupied by Big Lots and New Oriental Market, the published report says.
Kula Revolving Sushi Bar is based on a Japan-originating concept that allows customers to select sushi dishes from a conveyor belt. Other items can be ordered from iPads situated at each table.
