The New Year gets off to a great start with a variety of fabulous, fun, and interesting weekend events taking place throughout the city.

AUSTIN, TX -- Nobody does the kick-off of a New Year quite like Austin. With a variety of events and activities, like Austin's Free Week featuring talented live bands and the Hot Coco Run Loop, this 2018 is off to a great start.   • Austin 10K'r Hot Coco Run Loop: Austin 10K'r invites all to join in on the Hot Coco Run Loop on Saturday, Jan. 6 beginning at 8 AM. This one-of-a-kind event offers fun running routes to compliment your Cap10K training. The Hot Chocolate Run will intersect the park, cross the river, and take you through Austin's entertainment district in downtown to Willie Nelson's statue.   • Children's Book Fair: Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center will host its Children's Book Fair on Saturday, Jan. 6 beginning at 9 AM. Attendees will be able to meet children's authors and spend time with favorite characters, while enjoying story time, and discovering great stories and books to take home. Beloved characters such as Peter Rabbit, Froggy and Ladybug Girl will be there to meet and greet and have photos taken with the kiddos.
