Child Critically Injured After Being Hit By Car In North Austin

The incident at 7700 block of Cameron Road left young pedestrian with life-threatening injuries, medics said.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A child was left with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle late Sunday in North Austin, emergency officials said.

The incident occurred at the 7700 block of Cameron Road just before 10:30 p.m., Austin-Travis County EMS officials said via Twitter. The young pedestrian was rushed to Dell Children's Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.

No further details were conveyed. It's unclear what may have caused the collision or if the driver faces any charges. The age of the victim wasn't disclosed.

This was the second pedestrian to be hit on Austin roadways in as many days in North Austin. Just past midnight Saturday, medics responded to the 800 block of Clayton Lane, near Airport Boulevard and Koenig Lane, amid reports of a woman being hit by a vehicle.

The female victim in her 30s was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical injuries that medics deemed potentially life-threatening. It's unclear if the driver stayed on the scene awaiting for police to arrive.
