At the July 13 meeting, Pflugerville City Council authorized the final negotiation and execution of a purchase and sale agreement for land that could be used for a new voter-approved recreation center, city hall or economic development projects. Because the City can withdraw from the agreement until November 17, 2021, this action allows the City to lock in terms for the land, but gives flexibility on funding options and the opportunity to gather resident input on that decision process.

On Tuesday, Pflugerville City Council held their first worksession on the FY22 proposed budget, discussing projected sales tax revenues, and investments in our roads, services, facilities, parks and people. The proposed budget includes preliminary calculations for property tax revenue based on the appraisal districts' preliminary property value estimates. The next step in the budget process is for the City to receive certified tax rolls from the appraisal districts and then tax rate calculations from the County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office. City Council will next discuss the budget and tax rate on August 10.
City Council approved a resolution appointing a bond committee to review projects for future bond election consideration. Eight members were added to the committee and the Council will hold a virtual special meeting on Saturday, July 17 at 10 a.m. to add additional participants. The bond committee will meet on Tuesday, July 20; Thursday, July 29; and Tuesday, August 10.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the city temporarily provided the opportunity to email public comment items to be read aloud to council at the city council meeting. However, now that meetings are back in person, the City will return to past practices and invite residents to attend Council meetings to provide public comment. Written comments will be sent directly to council members – not read during the meeting.
Always lock your vehicles, hide your belongings and keep your home secure. The Pflugerville Police Department recommends always locking the doors and keeping your windows up when your vehicle is unattended. A locked vehicle is a deterrent. While you may think there’s nothing to steal, items like garage door openers, loose receipts and work access cards shouldn’t be left out. You’re encouraged to follow the Police Department’s 9PM Routine on social media for reminders to keep your home and car locked up.
Austin Public Health (APH) is now in its Stage 3 of its Risk-Based Guidelines.
