The Youth Advisory Council is a program to teach high school students about city government and get them involved in their city. The Mayor serves as the Council liaison. Participants will volunteer at city events, tour city facilities, attend various board and commission meetings and attend the annual Texas YAC summit. Participants will also select a project to complete over the course of the year. The program ends with a presentation to the City Council in May 2022.
Interested high school students are encouraged to apply. All applicants meeting the requirements will be accepted into the program until a full membership of 20 members is reached. The program will begin in October 2021 with introductions to the City Council. Find more information here.
