City Seeks Public Input Into Transit System Development Plan

Survey aims to analyze service options, explore financing sources and provide recommendations on transit services.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- City officials are seeking public input in developing a future transit system in Pflugerville.

An online survey has been created, and will accept submissions until the end of the month. It’s part of a larger transit development plan for the city, notes the Austin American-Statesman.

The city is working alongside officials at the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (informally known as Capital Metro) and consultant URS in developing the commuter mass transit network.

“We hope through citizen participation through the surveys to glean whatever the level of interest is and improve transportation options,” Trey Fletcher, assistant city manager, told the newspaper.

Pflugerville City Council members in October approved an interlocal agreement with Capital Metro to develop a three-year transportation development plan.

The goal of the effort is to identify transit needs, analyze service options and financing and provide recommendations on the types of transit service, the newspaper explains.

Pflugerville actually opted out of Capital Metro service 15 years ago, but in April 2014 a service expansion policy was approved that allows partnerships with cities in the greater Austin area.
