Clock Tower Drive To Close For Three Months At U.S. 183

Beginning this week, Clock Tower Drive will close at the US 183 northbound frontage road/E. Anderson Lane for utility installation.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Beginning this week, Clock Tower Drive will close at the US 183 northbound frontage road/E. Anderson Lane for utility installation, transportation officials said Monday.

The closure will last until September 2018, weather permitting, Texas Department of Transportation officials said. Motorists are urged to look for detour signs in this area.

This work is being completed as part of the Interstate 35 project from Rundberg Lane to US 290 East. The project includes main lane and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183, along with reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue bridge, including the addition of U-turns in both directions, north and south intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements, officials said.

Additionally, the project involves relocating and upgrading utilities along the corridor to keep utility lines out of the proposed design footprint.Construction of the $124.2 million project is funded by Texas Clear Lanes and is anticipated to complete in Summer 2021, weather permitting. The contractor is J.D. Abrams L.P.
