District officials said they believe no students came into contact with the animal found in a high school parking lot.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- School district officials confirmed that a dead bat found in a Hendrickson High School parking lot later tested positive for rabies.

A Pflugerville Independent School District spokesman said that, to their knowledge, no students came into contact with the dead animal. Still, they sent out notices to parents as a precautionary measure.

“We have no reports that anyone touched it,” spokesman Steve Scheffler told the Austin American Statesman.
