Here are the top stories in North Austin-Pflugerville today:
- On Tuesday, Feb. 8, members of the Pflugerville City Council met to approve an update to the city's Downtown Action Plan. With this approval, "over the next few years residents can expect to see projects related to the funding and development of Downtown East, a downtown-focused drainage study, a Streetscape Master Plan and projects added to the Water and Wastewater Master Plans for Downtown." - Five new commercial projects were recently filed in Pflugerville and surrounding areas. Among those new projects are a church renovation, construction of new homes, and a new bank building. For details and information on these and other new projects, please visit: (Community Impact Newspaper)
- Recently "the Austin City Council approved a contract to renovate a former hotel on Burnet Road and enter an agreement with Integral Care, the local mental health authority for Travis County, to operate the facility as Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH)." PSH is a type of affordable housing that includes support services "such as case management, mental health care, substance use treatment, wellness services and employment services." Dianna Grey, City of Austin Homeless Strategy Officer said, "This new apartment building will advance our community's efforts to address homelessness for many years to come."
