Duck Shot With Arrow, Another Killed At Austin Pond
Arboretum Duck Pond has emerged as crime scene after person spots bird with arrow through wing and another one that was beaten to death.
AUSTIN, TX — Police are investigating after a duck at a Northwest Austin pond was shot with an arrow and another beaten to death.
According to a report on KVUE, a visitor to the Arboretum Duck Pond spotted a duck with an arrow piercing its left wing. Another bird — said to be the injured duck's brother — was beaten to death, as a blood-soaked piece of wood found nearby indicated, the news station reported.
The injured duck was captured before being taken to Austin Wildlife Rescue for medical treatment, according to the report that included photos of the injured bird. The animal also sustained a deep puncture to its face, the news station noted. Animal Services officials weren't able to confirm if the bloodied log was related to the other duck's death, KVUE reported, but an investigation has been launched.
