Elderly Woman Dies After Two-Car Collision In North Austin

The woman in her 70s was killed and another woman was injured after two cars collide.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- An elderly woman was killed in a two-car collision late Tuesday morning, EMS officials said.

Austin-Travis County EMS officials said a woman in her 70s died in northern Travis County, at the 1400 block of 3 Points Road after the crash between two vehicles. The area where the collision occurred is south of Grand Avenue Parkway just east of Interstate 35.

Another woman involved in the crash was taken to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A portion of FM 1825 was shut down for a time after the crash, but has since been re-opened.

This was the third wreck along Grand Avenue Parkway in as many days. Pflugerville police shut down all of the artery's eastbound lanes at West Pflugerville Parkway May 9 after a traffic collision.

And on Mother's Day, May 8, a man in his 20s was seriously hurt after hitting a tree at 10:30 p.m. He was taken to Round Rock Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

And in January, three people were injured -- one with what were described as potentially life-threatening injuries -- after a car hit a guardrail at the Interstate 35 service road at Grand Avenue Parkway.
